The Password Conundrum

2016-08-13T15:39:43-07:00August 13th, 2016|Uncategorized|Comments Off on The Password Conundrum

We’ve said for years (possibly decades) that frequent password changes don’t necessarily make systems more secure. Now the National Institute of Standards and Technology has issued draft recommendations encouraging longer passphrases, rather than passwords, and doing away with frustratingly or ridiculously frequent forced changes. (Anyone installed Quickbooks 2016 recently?) We have liked long, easy to remember phrases and 2-step/2-factor authentication for a long time. Anyone need a OnePlus 2?

2015-10-06T11:44:39-07:00October 6th, 2015|Android, Hardware|Comments Off on Anyone need a OnePlus 2?

Here’s a funny story. I’ve been on a waiting list for ages to get an invite, and finally gave up on them like so many people before me. My shiny new LG G4 arrived last night, which of course caused OnePlus to send an invite not even 12 hours later. I’m loving the G4, so if anyone has their heart set on a factory sealed 64GB OnePlus 2 for $405, let me know by 8pm tonight, Tuesday October 6. First one to respond takes it (when it arrives in about a week). Thanks!

has us glancing at our phones way too often. Rather than be pestered by calls from every state, all from the same clever automatons, we’re going to have all our office calls answered by the auto-attendant on our FortiVoice FVC-40 Small Business Phone System. Yes, we’re fighting robocallers with auto-attendants.
